What is Zang Dhok Palri Phodang?

This is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery situated in Kalimpong of West Bengal, India. It is at the top of Durpin hill (the hill is one of the two hills in Kalimpong). It is also known as the Durpin Monastery and Lava Monastery. The divine monastery expresses history and religion.

History of Zang Dhok Palri Phodang

The largest monastery of Kalimpong Zang Dhok Palri Phodang was consecrated in 1976 by the visiting Dalai Lama. Many rare scriptures were brought into the monastery after the invasion of Tibet in 1959.

Who is the Dalai Lama?

The title Dalai Lama is given by the Tibetan people to Tenzin Gyatso. The person represented Buddhist values and traditions. The greatness carries the emblem of the unification of Tibet.

In the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang, there is a rare Kangyur text in 108 volumes which was brought from Tibet.

They got three-dimensional mandalas, sculptures, walls, pillars, ceremony hall, and a large number of devotees who came to offer their prayer.
