What is Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary? 

The Wayanad Wildlife sanctuary is an animal Sanctuary in the way and its area is almost 133sq mi. It’s the second-largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala. There are so many animals in this Sanctuary.

What is the history of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary?

The Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary was established in 1973 and was included in the Elephant Project in 1991 and 1992.This Sanctuary is separated between two disconnected parts and these parts are also known as the North Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary and South Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. The two parts of the area were originally a forest region. In 2012 the Kerala Forest Department shot a tiger and it was dead. Then the chief Wildlife Warden of Kerala ordered the hunt for the animals. Massive protests broke out when the tiger took pets away.

The Sanctuary consists of tropical dry deciduous, bamboo thickets, plantation, and evergreen forests, and there are many varieties of birds. Bulbuls, Parakeets, and many birds hidden behind the foliage make the air thrum with their cries.
