Victoria Memorial is placed on 64 acres of lawns, ponds, shrubbery, and herbaceous borders with open surroundings. It has 25 galleries inside beneath the big main dome. The Calcutta Gallery, Portrait Gallery, Royal gallery, Sculpture Gallery, and the National Leaders Gallery are mainly focused here. According to the 2009 inquiry, there are nearly 30,000 collections available.
The building is a wonderful example of the colonial style of architecture. It almost looks like ‘Tajmahal’. The building is made of white marble. The central dome included 4 more domes on the terrace.
The main attraction at the memorial is the huge somber statue of Queen Victoria. A five meters tall black bronze angel statue holding a bugle in her hand is another beautiful architectural work. You will find several allegorical sculptures surrounding the central dome.
