This flea market was started by the hippies in the early 1960s as a cause of their craze for trance music. They used to dance and partied all night over here. The market’s trend came when the hippies got into the business of selling their second-hand products to buy new products when they were short of money. It is also said that the market was started by the father of hippie ‘eight fingers Eddie’ In 1975. Once the hippies’ followed the trail through Eastern Europe and reached Anjuna, where they burned their passports by accident and ran out of money.
