Located 62 km from the main city of Jammu and about 40 km from Udhampur city, Mansa Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in India. One of the most popular hill stations, PatniTop is located about 112 km from Jammu city on the Udhampur-Srinagar road. It is located at an altitude of about 2024 meters above sea level. Resting on a plateau in the Shivalik belt of the Himalayas, Patnitop overlooks the course of the Chenab river that flows close to it. With dense forests of cedar and blue pine trees, the site is completely snow-covered in winter, with bright-eyed sights. It is an ideal place for skiing and sledging. The pastures here are spectacular and provide a great view as a result of the boundaries of the misty blue mountains. It is a perfect place for solitude or romantic walks. All in all, PatniTop’s wood provides much needed serenity.
Built in the 11th or 12th century, the temples of Krimchi are also known as the Pandava Temples. It carries the historical significance of the Hindu mythology of the Mahabharata. Seven Antideluvian temples are located here. Four large temples and three small temples, which is dedicated to Shiva. These are located on top of a rock complex with small streams flowing through them. The abstract and intricate installation of the temples exhibits a strong Greek influence. They contain sculptures of various Hindu gods and goddesses including Ganesha, Parvati, Shiva etc.
It is believed that the Pandavas stayed here for some time during their exile. The main temple of the complex is cut into 50 feet long marvelous architecture. Krimchi is one of the places for those who are interested in Hindu mythology or authentic history.
Sanasar Lake is located about 19 km from Patnitop. This lovely area is named after two small lakes called ‘Sana’ and ‘Sar’. The lake is located at an altitude of about 2000 meters above sea level. It is a well-known site for providing exciting adventure activities. Sanasar offers rock climbing, abselling, paragliding, trekking, para-sailing hot-air ballooning and more. One of the remotest areas of the state, Sanasar is an unblemished destination of wondrous meadows and dense cover of forests. It is known as “Mini Gulmarg” for its Gulmarg-Esk qualities. Sanasar has been placed in a bowl-shaped long green enclosure. The Cedar trees stand tall and surround the whole land, providing mesmerizing views.
