Serchhip is the headquarters town of Serchhip district in the Indian state of Mizoram, and also the headquarters of Serchhip Sadar subdivision. It lies in the central part of Mizoram, and 112 km away from the State capital city of Aizawl. The district has the highest literacy all over India. The origin of the name comes from citrus trees found on top of the first hill of the then Serchhip village. The word meaning of Ser-chhip is ‘Citrus-On-Top’. In addition to the former Serchhip village, the Town Area now included New Serchhip and Chhiahtlang villages. (According to wiki)

Chhingpuii Thlan is basically a memorial. It is located on Aizawl-Lunglei Main Road. This famous stone monument was built between Baktawng and Chhingchhip. It was built in memory of a beautiful young woman from Chhingpuii. The young woman was abducted and killed during the civil war in the region from 1877 to 1880. The young woman was living a happy life with her husband Kaptuanga but brutality robbed her of that happiness.
Kaptuanga was so shocked and saddened by the death of his loved one that he committed suicide in the same place. The memorial is a love story of two happy people and a shining beacon of their tragic fate, which still stands proudly in reverence today.
Zoluti Hriatrengna Lung
‘Lung’ is a Mizo word. In Mizo language, ‘Lung’ means- ‘Stone’. Zoluti Hriatrengna Lung is basically a memorial stone. Zoluti is the name of a girl who was the daughter of the director of one of the tea gardens in the region. The name of the director at that time was Dr. Winchester. This memorial stone was built in memory of his daughter. There are many stories in people’s about Zoluti. According to many, her real name is Mary Winchester. He was captured in 1872 and handed over to the British.
Vantawng Falls is the highest in the whole of Mizoram. This famous waterfall will easily catch your attention because it is naturally beautiful. There is a sad history behind the naming of the waterfall. The waterfall was named after a famous swimmer in the area. It is said that he was able to do a lot of stunts in the cascading waters here and during such a performance a heavy log fell on him. Unfortunately he died on the spot. Hence the waterfall was named after him.
Wantaong Falls is 750 feet high. The water flowing from this high waterfall nurtures the view of life. It is not possible to go near the waterfall as there are forests and hills all around. That’s why, the tourism department has erected a spectacular tower, which presents a spectacular view of the waterfall. You can come here and spend some time from your busy life if you want.
Chawngchilhi Puk is basically a cave. It is located between beautiful mountains and attractive green trees. This is not just a cave, there is one additional attraction here. That is – the search for different bird species and mammals. There is a gallows for a trip to the cave, which can also be considered as one of the small adventures.
This cave is very mysterious and very popular, because it is associated with the history of a legend. It is said that a girl fell in love with a snake that lived in this cave. Once the girl gave birth to a child in a cave here and that is why the cave was named after her. You can visit this mysterious cave if you want.
Thenzawl Deer Park
A park dedicated to deer conservation, Thenzawl Deer Park is one of the best attractions of the search. Before it was a forest but today it is a deer garden. As it is the only park of its kind, the deer park attracts tourists from the vicinity and from home and abroad. Currently there are about 11 female deer and 6 male deer in the park and it is very interesting and eye-catching to see these amazing animals roaming in their natural habitat.

How To Reach
By Road: Serchhip is not well-connected to the other major cities of India by road. Cars on hire, buses, taxis are easily available from nearby towns. The fares are also quite minimal. However, the bus journey is not great as the buses remain crowded.
By Train: Serchhip has no any railway station of its own. Silchar is the nearest railway station. Trains from Guwahati, Kolkata, Delhi and other cities, mainly from the north eastern part are connected through train or have stoppage at Silchar. Apart from this station, there are quite a few towns in Mizoram which have a station, but the connectivity through trains is not great.
By Air: Serchhip has no any airport of its own. The nearest airport is approximately 45 km away from Serchhip, which is situated in Aizawl. Apart from this airport Silchar and Imphal airports are also nearby. There are quite a few flights which connect through these airports. From the airport, you can hire a car or a bus to reach the destination.
