Famous For: Durg is known to be a major industrial and agricultural centre. Located on the eastern banks of river Seonath, also known as river Shivnath.  Places such as Shri Uwassaggaharam Parshwa Tirth, The Chandi Mandir, Ganga Maiya Temple, Deobaloda and Jain Temples of Nagpura are some of the major pilgrimage centres of Durg. This district also has other places that should not be missed to visit. Such as Hindi Bhawan, Patan, Prachin Kila, Balod, Tandula, Maitri Bagh (Zoo) etc.

About Durg

Durg district is one of the 2nd largest population districts in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh. The district headquarters is Durg. Here, the “Langurveer Mandir” is one and only Hindu Temple Devoted to God Langoorveer in India situated in Durg. The fort district has a rich cultural heritage to be proud of. More than 35 different tribes live here. It has a variety of cultural activities such as folk dance, music and drama. “Pandwani” is one of the most famous dance forms of Durg.

Deorbijja Temple

This temple is an archeological wonder that has come true from the dream of the great archaeological genius of ancient times. This shrine has a specialty that it is similar to another temple. And that temple is located in Janjgir district of the fort. The orientation, structure, architecture and planning of both the temples are the same.

This temple is located at Deorbijja in Durg district. The locals believe that this place is a very sacred place. It is not as famous as its counterparts, but once you start your journey for the purpose of visiting Durg, you must not miss the opportunity to see the temple.

Uvasaggaharam Parshwa Teerth

This “Uvasaggaharam Parshwa Teerth” has been built to pay homage to the divine step of “Shri Parshwa Prabhu”. This huge temple has been built here and it is truly an archeological wonder. The idol of Sri Badhrabahu Swami is present in this temple. He is considered as the creator of Uvasaggaharam mantra. This idol receives all worship and sacred rites throughout the year. This divine destination is located a few kilometers away from the city center.

Kharkhara

This place is a famous place for locals and tourists. It has emerged victoriously as a great tourist spot. The dam built here on the Kharkhara river is about 1,128 meters long. The views of this place are truly breathtaking and mesmerizing. You can blend in with the green nature in this place. It is a green paradise away from the dust and smoke of the city’s industries. It is a wonderful sight and a popular picnic spot.

Devbaloda Temple

The moment you set foot inside this temple, you will continue to experience an ultimate feeling of spirituality. You will feel that the wave of spirituality is floating in the whole temple. The Devbaloda Temple is considered to be the holiest site of the Durg, the economic capital of Chhattisgarh. This is one of the most scenic places here. Every year many tourists come here to pray and to worship in the presence of God.

This temple was built to pray to the great Hindu God, Lord Shiva. The architecture of this temple is very attractive. This temple is located a few kilometers away from the heart of the city. While visiting the Durg, one can hardly find a person who does not visit this holy temple.

Balod

Balod, located on the banks of the river Tandula. Nature, with its rich source of water, has given this place a part of its appearance. In addition to being a rich source of water, it has an ancient fort, which is visited by people from many parts of the world. This place is easily focused in the center of tourist attraction.

The engineering of this place is astonishing and this is a clear proof of the architectural genius of the people of that time. “Sati Chabutra” is another place that doubles the tourist attraction. Over the years, this place has become a great place for locals as well as tourists.

By Road: Durg is directly connected with Nagpur to Raipur by road. It lies on National Highway (G. E. Road). Buses, taxis, tempos and autos are the main modes of road transport.

By Train: Durg Railway Station is well connected with the other major cities. So, You can easily get regular trains to Durg from other major cities of the country. Durg railway station is at a distance of 1101 km from Mumbai, 867 km from Howrah, 1354 km from New Delhi and 275 km from Nagpur. After reaching the railway station. , you can easily hire a taxi or cab to reach your preferred destination.
