About Bhilai

which is officially called Bhilai Nagar. It is a city in the district of Durg, Chhattisgarh, in eastern central India. Tandula

It is a man-made wonder, a dam which is built on the river Tandula. In addition to the sights, it is also known as a popular picnic spot. It is located 60 km from Bhilai. The place is frequented by tourists especially during winter. In the interest of overall cooperation of tourists, there is also a guest house, which is run by the Irrigation Department.

Siyadevi

Sitting in the lap of the beautiful and nature, Siyadevi is known for the “Sita Maiya” temple. There are also seasonal natural waterfalls. You must visit the place between July and February to enjoy the water-dance of the waterfalls. The temple is named after Rama’s devout wife, Sita. Siyadevi is also considered to be one of the places where Rama, Lakshmana and Sita lived during their exile (Vanvaas). That is why it is a holy place for the devout.

Dhamdha

It is an ancient fort and a popular temple attraction. Dhamdha is located about 35 km from Bhilai on the way to Bemetara. For tourists, the place has overnight stays in several restaurants and hotels. In addition to the sights, this is one of the best places to spend the night & to take dinner.

Maitri Bagh

Maitri Bagh, translated as “Garden of Friendship”. It is a specialized park with a zoo; Which attracts adults and children alike. It is the largest zoo in the Bhilai region. It provides a variety of materials and exhibitions for entertainment and thrills for delights visitors. The entrance is fluently decorated with a pair of giraffe models in a way that welcomes all excited visitors. Maitri Bagh was established in 1972 as a symbol of friendship between the USSR and India. Bhilai Steel Plant, SAIL built it. It is also widely known as “Friendship Park”. A large number of tourists come to visit it throughout the year.

Civic Center

Whispering with all kind of noises, social activities and amusements, Civic Center is a famous shopping hub of Bhilai. It was built in L shape with two rows occupied with shops and stores. Now a days, this place also features a children’s garden adorned with a toy train. There is a supermarket in this area, where art exhibitions are held. By Road: The best way to go to Bhilai is by road as it is well connected with highways and expressways that are well maintained and easy to travel on. The roads are well developed and connecting many neighbouring cities in the state as well as cities in adjacent states. Bhilai is 11 Kms from Durg, 30 Kms from Raipur, 137 Kms from Bilaspur, 158 Kms from Gondia, 227 Kms from Tumsar, 255 Kms from Nagpur, 304 Kms from Sambalpur and is connected through Chhattisgarh State Road Transport Corporation (CSRTC) and some other private travel services.

By Train: Bhilai has no any railway station of its own. The nearest Railway Station is “Durg Railway Station” in Durg. Which takes half an hour drive to reach the city. It has daily trains to Bhopal, Bilaspur, Ahmedabad, Durg, Chapra, Howrah, Nagpur, Puri, Shalimar and Vishakhapatnam etc. You can hire a taxi or cab to reach the city centre of your preferred destination.

By Air: Bhilai has no any airport of its own. The nearest International Airport from Bhilai is “Swami Vivekananda Airport” in Raipur. Which takes 45 minutes drive to reach Bhilai.
